I started painting at the age of 9 at a local auto salvage yard. I was offered $10 to paint a small office shed, which was a lot of money to me. After fighting off wasps and the sun, I completed the job. Fast forward to high school graduation, my best friend told me of an apprenticeship program. I quickly applied. One year later I was hired by Huss Painting, then Flecther Painting, where I spent the next 18 years learning stage-rigging to high-pressure equipment use. I have worked on jobs that were from 20-story buildings to a NASA missile base to 17 million dollar construction projects, where I supervised and coordinated as Job Manager.

My idea for my patent came from working for Lakeside Interiors when setting up to paint multiple colors and stripping an Auto Zone store. I was needed on another job but had multiple brushes in paint and no time to clean. So I came up with my idea of a brush holder. My idea sat for 20 years until I met Ray Nicior, an engineer at the Dana Corporation. He helped me solve the issue that was plaguing me by recommending adding a dove-tail attachment for my holder and giving me information about a blank connect out of Florida. He also told me about Foley & Lardner LLP. My patent application is published as of April 2023.
